Exploring herbs with our different senses...

Our school gardens are abundant with herbs, vegetables and fruit at the moment and we have been enjoying visiting and exploring these gardens with the girls. We have been using our many senses to find out about different types of herbs and it has been fascinating to listen to the girls as they articulate their thinking.

Here are some of the conversations the girls have been sharing in:

"Coriander reminds me of oranges when I smell it." - Isobella
"It's delicious." - Anika

"Parsley is good. It's kind of like a plain taste." - Isobella

"Oregano is a bit like honey to me." - Sophie

"The chives are similar to garlic and onion." - Emma

"The mint smells yummy...like mint chocolate!" - Lutie

"...and toothpaste! AND Daddy's mints that he eats. They are even called mints!" - Isobella

Anika, Jenesis, Isobella, Lutie, Emma and Sophie each worked to draw a diagram of several different herbs and labeled these. Don't they look great?
