The Life Education Trust

Today we visited The Life Education Trust.
We learnt all about our bodies and how good food and exercise gives us energy.

We learnt about the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day.
We even sang this song which was to the tune of 'Row, Row, Row your Boat'.

We learnt about the organs inside the body.

The girls enjoyed meeting Harold the giraffe and hearing him sing a song about keeping healthy!
What a wonderful time we had inside The Life Education Truck.

Fabulous Bears.

The girls did exceptionally well at drawing their bears and some of the girls were keen
to use the opportunity for writing.

The Next Page of our Book

Today we worked on the next page of our book of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We talked about the size of the chairs and what the opposite of big, soft, small, hard etc...was, before working together on the white board to draw chairs for the bears.

We were most impressed with the chairs the girls drew and here are some of the girls, hard at work.

Tasting Goldilocks Porridge

Children never cease to surprise.
Before working together on our Bear pictures, we made 'Goldilocks' porridge
(as opposed to 'normal', everyday, porridge)
so the girls could try real Goldilocks porridge in big, small and tiny bowls.
What we weren't expecting is how much they loved it!

They even asked for seconds and if they could have more tomorrow please. Zoe said
"I'll tell my mother I won't need any breakfast tomorrow" and Jacqui said
"I'll just have two breakfasts!".

When Goldilocks Went to the House of the Bears...

We have been focusing on mathematical language around size and seriation.

To extend on this, and to capture the girls earlier interest in writing and signs, we are working on making a book about ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.

We have been telling the girls the story of Goldilocks and the
Three Bears and we have been learning a song.
The girls identified the things they would need to draw for the story and we wrote these on the white board and noted the number of each of them that we would need to draw.

After making a collaborative Goldilocks drawing on the white board, we invited
discussion about what features we needed to include on her face;
how do we draw lips? where does the neck go?

We then invited the girls to draw their own Goldilocks.

Watch out for our bears next!
