Wow, yesterday was such an adventure! We all had a wonderful time visiting both the Art Gallery and Cornwall Park. There was so much to see at the Art Gallery, we probably could have spent many days there! Highlights were definitely the 'Flower Chandelier' sculpture hanging from the ceiling, which opened and closed, as well as the many beautiful portraits that we saw.
At Cornwall Park we enjoyed our lunch in the sun. We did lots of running and climbing and went for a walk to see the tiny wee lambs. The daffodils looked lovely too.
Here are some photos of our big day:

It was a very nice garden. |
This was a special sculpture of flowers. |

There were so many big open spaces to move through at the gallery. |
Inside the crazy mirror room. |
We could see hundreds of each other! |
This picture was moving! |
Here we are doing sketches of the Maori people in Goldie's paintings. |
Isobella gave some of the girls a lesson in how to draw Koru patterns. |
Taking in the paintings. |
Busy sketching more portraits. These ones were by both Goldie and Lindauer. |
There was so much to see! |
Thank you to Stephanie for coming along with us!
The reports of my racing car skills are grossly exaggerated and fueled by Mrs Smith! She kept on telling the girls to 'tell your mum and dad that Mrs Bayes is a speedy rally car driver'. It was the first thing Isobella told her father. OK I did one little slip as we left the school. I blamed the column drive for that.
ReplyDeleteThe speed bumps coming back from Cornwall Park did provide a wonderful opportunity for excitement and I couldn't disappoint could I?
Sounds like interesting driving Mrs Bayes?!! Girls it looks like you had an incredible day out - I love how intently you are looking at the pictures. It's great to see you out and about and very evidently enjoying racing about! I'd love to see the pictures you drew - could you come and show me them in Rm 14?!

Oh, so that was YOU zipping around town, Mrs Bayes? I saw this van full of kids doing wheelies when I was out and about on Wednesday:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had an awesome day. Thanks, teachers, for organising such a fun day out. Ria spoke of the huge flowers in the gallery as well as the lunch in the park.
Parul.
Hi girls,
ReplyDeleteDid you know that the flower chandelier in the art gallery's atrium was designed by Korean artist, Choi Jeong Hwa?
Cheers,
Parul
Thanks Parul. I just looked up some of his other works, have you had a look? They are all incredible!!
DeleteYes, I did have a look at some of his other work and he is very talented. In fact, there was a red tree outside the gallery on top of a water feature which was also designed by him. I am not sure if it is still there as it was meant to be temporary.
DeleteParul.
That's right. It has been changed now, but it was so beautiful.
DeleteThank You Foundation Class for a lovely day at the Art Gallery and the Park, I had a lovely time with you all and I was very impressed at how well behaved you all were. Well done
ReplyDeleteWe loved having you with us Stephanie!
