Painting Monarch Butterflies.

Take a look at the beautiful paintings that some of the girls have been doing of butterflies. Butterflies have been very popular in our classroom lately.

  1. Hi girls (and teachers),

Did you know that monarch butterflies are poisonous? They won’t harm humans, though.

And, do you know how to tell a male from a female monarch butterfly? The male monarchs have a black spot on each of the hind wings over a vein. The female monarch butterfly does not have this spot.

Many people think that only the male monarch butterfly is beautiful, but that is simply not true. Every monarch butterfly is beautiful.

  2. The Chew family just visited Butterfly Creek last weekend and saw lots of butterflies! A butterfly climbed onto my finger and I tried to pass it over to Emma but she screamed and ran away even though she liked them and thought they were beautiful!

Did you girls see butterflies on your walk up Mt St John?
