Today Jane Williams (Vita’s Grandmother) came to speak to the girls about what Dio was like in the olden days. Jane is an Old Girl of Dio and she brought photographs and books for the girls to look at. She had the girls fully engaged in stories for about 45 minutes.
Jane showed them a big photograph of the first class of girls at Dio back in 1904.
They were siting on the steps of Old School House.
The girls had many questions about this photo...
“Why did the olden days just have black and white pictures?” - Jacqui
“Why is everyone so serious?” - Vita
“Why are they not smiling?” - Olivia
“Why didn’t they have pinnies on?” - Halle
“How did they know each others name if they didn’t have a pinnie?” - Féline
“What are the girls names...and I wonder what houses they were in?
Did they have planes back then?” - Jacqui
Jane answered all of the questions the best she could and was a wealth of information.
Jane then invited the girls to take a walk to ‘Old School House’ and have a photo on the steps
just like the first class back in 1904.
The girls also took time to notice how the house had changed since 1904.
