Pysanky

Today we visited Mr Lewis who looks after the achives for the school. His hobby is making Pysanky. These eggs originated from the Ukraine and each design has a story. The eggs are about fertility, new beginnings and often have spring themes to them.

The girls learnt that they are made by layers of wax being applied (a little like batik), and then the wax is warmed and removed.

We have told the girls that we expect the eggs they are painting will be just like Mr Lewis'!
