The value of creativity.

We encourage you to watch the video that we have posted below. Just click on the link and view away!

In it Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity.

On Wednesday we once again had the pleasure of embarking on a journey up Mount St John. The weather wasn't nearly as wild as on our first encounter with the mountain, (it was sunny when we left, but of course the skies opened up just as we reached the summit!) and this meant that we could spend a lot longer exploring this beautiful place. We walked the whole way around the circumference of the mountain, rolled down hills, encountered cows, kumara pits and even climbed down into the crater of the volcano for a lovely picnic morning tea.

We are so lucky to have such a rich natural resource so near to us, and we are sure that in time we will all develop a deep connection with this place.

Here are some images from our walk:

Welcome.

Welcome to the Foundation Class blog. Here you will be able to gain insight into the wonderful adventures we have, as well as the discoveries that we make here in this place. We'll also include images from our environment, which we consider to be 'the third teacher', as well as quotes from people who inspire us, including the children we work alongside. Our hope is that our blog will become a powerful tool for communication, sharing thoughts and ideas, and in light of this we encourage you to leave a comment.

Enjoy!
