Introducing Perspectives

We have introduced the idea of perspectives to the girls as we continue our inquiry...
"We Express Ourselves in Unique Ways"

During a meeting we showed photos of one of Filipe's sculptures we had
seen in Onehunga.

"As I walked around Filipe’s sculpture ‘Hautaha’ I took these different photos.
What do you notice about them?" Miss Lambert asked.

“This is a diamond and this one is not” - Jacqui

“They are too different!” - Halle

“That one is bigger, this one is smaller, but it’s the same” - Dakota

“They are not the same sizes” - Féline

After discussing these photos we went on a walk to view the
‘Female figure’ sculpture which is in the court yard of the senior school.

The girls walked around the sculpture and noticed that when they looked at the ‘Female Figure’ from different perspectives they saw different things.

When Jacqui was looking from a front view she noticed how
different it looked from the side view.

“I can see her lips over here, and her leg...but not her hair if I stand over here...
she is flat like a pancake”
said Jacqui as she stood at the side of the sculpture.

After admiring the ‘Female Figure’ the girls were invited to draw it. The girls comfortable sat down on the seat and quietly drew what they saw.

Below are very detailed drawings of what they saw.
