Through the Eye of An Needle

Recently the girls have been inspired by the Micro Sculpture Artist - Willard Wigan.

As a group we watched a You Tube video about his work creating tiny sculptures within the eye of a needle. The girls were instantly drawn to his art works and found them fascinating.
They couldn’t believe that you would have to look through microscopes or
magnifying glasses to see these delicate sculptures.

The girls were invited to draw their own sculpture within an eye of a needle shape on a piece of paper. These drawings were very detailed and told many stories.
They then translated these drawings and created sculptures out of black moulding clay.

Here is their work...

  1. Hmm, I think we will stop reading Tess fairytales for a while. :)

  2. Tess' ability to tell wild and imaginative stories is not compromised by her need to seek new words in English to tell the stories. I think she may be competing for the story teller of the year!

  3. Hahaha, happy to hear that! Her aunt Pien - who is the family story teller (and visited the class in January) - will be so proud!! Martha
